Quit Friday... shaky hands and more?
The last drink I had was on Thursday. Though I have been a daily drinker for the past 5 years, the first 3 years I only had about 3 per day. The past 2 years, I have had on average 5-8 per day and more for 'special occasions' (which was probably a once per month thing) The following day, as pretty much every morning for the past 6 or 7 months, I have noticed shaky hands. My patients have noticed this too and asked if I was nervous etc.
So, Friday, I was a bit shaky - just hands... and Saturday, it seemed to increase a bit. Yesterday, I decided to run. I generally run 5 miles 3 times per week, so this is nothing new for me. I always ran before my nightly drinking session and experience minor hand shaking when I return. Thinking this just an surge of adrenalin, drinking would alleviate it. Yesterday I ran only 2 miles. When I finished, the shaking was not just my hands, but my arms, legs and even my jaw. I took some benadryl to help me sleep but when I woke up, I was still shaky, and still am. I'm not sure if this is normal on the 4th day of not drinking. Even if it was a sort of withdrawal I thought it would be over. I have a 6 mile race to run on Sat and I'm not sure if I should call the MD before I run it or not just incase something else is going on. Anyone know if it's normal?
