Contemplation: the open door

Written by Ken, an early member of SMART Recovery online.
-----

It occurred to me...

I sat there and looked at the open door.
I sat there for the longest time. Wondering to myself if it was 'cause I lack the courage or is it simple procrastination.

As I sat there I watched as many came and went through the door. Yet I just sat there. I knew what needed to be done. I had learned well. It was all so simple yet I found ways to make it complicated.

Yet I sat there and watched the open door. Day after day passed. Then that turned into weeks and then months. And yet I just sat there staring at that damn open door.

Then one day as no one was watching, I simply slipped through that open door.

I left the door open behind me. Not so that I could return. It was so I could look back through it. To remind me of the past. I choose to remember all that I can.

It also left the door open for others to follow.......

:-) Peace and love: Ken

Very nice Don, thank you. I find myself sitting looking at another door in my life right now. (Not drinking thank god) I watch people come and go and fear is holding me back.

I agree that this was an awesome post Don. Thank you

Would you like to say more about the fear that is holding you back Rose? I think many folks can relate to what you have to say. I bet I can I am interested in hearing your thoughts on the subject, and hope you will "speak up"

Nice Don, Thanks.

In the past I left the door open to escape when things got bad.
I hope I have learned my lesson.

Great post Don

I walked through the door... slammed it shut... and then installed a bullet proof glass window... to avoid getting hijacked by my AV.... ahahha...

Rose... do you want to talk about the fear that is holding you back? You know I can relate to being a prisoner of fear... I'd love to talk about breaking free of fear with you
