Default to much religion I think in the 12 steps.

I am not a religious person at all. For the longest time I believed that AA was in ways a religious organization. In ways I still do but not in all ways do I believe it is. When I first went to a AA meeting I went to support my wife and her issues. She relapsed and looks like she isn't going to try again. So last night I went to one by myself for the first time. It was an adventure just getting there. My truck didn't want to start at first then the line at 7-11 was to slow. So I was 20 minutes late. Well I think I payed more attention this time since I was doing it for me this time. the people and the reason for AA I can deal with and was glad I was there. It's the other things in the steps that seem to deal god or as it is put your higher power that a have issues with. so any ideas on alternatives that do not have to do with religion. I still will do the AA meetings just for the support. God nows I need all the support I can get having to set here and watch her drink night after night. She even went as far to tell are daughter when she was asked. Mommy why do you drink. Her reply was because drinking makes you feel good and you have fun. And thats why I drink.
