Default Introduction

Hello, I'd just like to introduce myself here, though I think I know many of you from the forums over at SR.

My name is Tyler and I have been a heavy pot smoker and part time drinker for almost 20 years now. I have made many attempts to quit over the years, but nothing ever seems to stick for long. 8 months is the longest I've gone pot free, but I drank some during that time as well. This is behavior that is/has ruined a large part of my life, yet I still continue.

Today is day one, once again, though I, as a rule, don't count days. I have to make some significant changes in my life and I know it. I have tried just about every "form" of recovery out there, and the conclusion I have reached is that it really doen't matter what "program" your use, if any, but that you are committed to really changing your life. I've thought I was committed, really, truly thought THIS was the last time, only to backslid time and time again.

I'm really not looking for any advice per se, just hopefully some support. I know what I need to do, I just have to do it. The first few day's suck the most, but it's when I have some time and confidence under my belt that I seem to end up messing up. Gotta comitt to change. I seem to have a fear of success too. It seems like just at the point where I start to get my life turned around and things going well for myself, that is a trigger to start using again.

Well just wanted to introduce myself. As I'm not a 12-stepper (not that there is anything wrong with that!!) I think this will be my home forum. There has been a bit too much drama over at the other place and it's just not helpful for me to have to deal with that, so I think I'll hang out over here for awhile.

That's it for now. Take care all.

Peace & Love,

Tyler
