CHAT ROOM INFO
What do we talk about? What is not allowed?
* First and foremost this is a recovery chat room, and if someone needs help in their recovery, this should come first.
* We do also like to have fun in here, as it says in the book, "We are not a glum lot".
* In the main chat room there is no set topic usually, feel free to talk about whatever you need to, ask questions as you wish, or just read along....
* Although we do not forbid or censor cursing , we do try to keep the language clean and respectable.
* Overtly rude or abusive behavior toward another chatter or chatters will not be tolerated, you will be given one warning and then removed from the room.
* Continued rude or abusive behavior will cause you to be removed permanently from the room.
* Please, treat everybody with the respect they deserve.
To be posted with schedule:
How do the Online Meetings work?
* As much as possible, we try to follow the same format as a face to face meeting.
* Each meeting will have a chairperson who will run through an introduction and specific rules for the meeting, introduce a topic, call on or recognize other chatters to share on the topic, and usually close the meeting with a group prayer.
* Crosstalk (typing in the main screen) is not allowed during meetings, please wait to be recognized by the chair person before typing in the main screen. If you feel strongly about what someone is saying, you may type one or two word comments, or use emoticons. Please do not use the audioemoticons during the meeting.
* If you need to contact another chatter during the meeting, please do so in a Private Message.
* To be recognized by the chair, type an exclamation point !,
* Meetings are generally one hour long, when sharing please be mindful of the time to ensure that everyone who needs to has a chance to share.
* If you need to enter or leave the meeting while it is in progress, please do so quietly, please say your hello's and goodbye's in a Private Message.

Dialogue for Chair person of the SV AA/NA Online Meeting.

Welcome to the Sober Village online meeting. My name is _____ and I am an alcoholic/addict.

Before we begin I would like to review the protocol for our online meetings. There will be no cross talking permitted during the meeting. If you need to discuss something with another member please do so in a private message.

If you would like to share during the meeting please indicate your intention to do so by typing an exclamation point !. Please wait to be called upon by the chair. We ask that you remember the meeting is only one hour and to be considerate of the time you use. If you need to leave before the meeting has ended do so quietly.

If you feel strongly about what someone is saying you may acknowledge them with a one or two word phrase or emoticon, please no audio-emoticons during the meeting.

When sharing keep your discussion to one or two lines per post so the readers will not have a lot of lag time between posts. When you are finished sharing please type "Done".

ALCOHOLICS ANONYMOUS® is a fellowship of men and women who share their experience, strength and hope with each other that they may solve their common problem and help others to recover from alcoholism.

The only requirement for membership is a desire to stop drinking. There are no dues or fees for A.A. membership; we are self-supporting through our own contributions.

A.A. is not allied with any sect, denomination, politics, organization or institution; does not wish to engage in any controversy; neither endorses nor opposes any causes. Our primary purpose is to stay sober and help other alcoholics to achieve sobriety.

We will have a moment of silence followed by the Serenity prayer .
God, grant me the serenity to accept the things I can not change
the courage to change the things I can,
and the wisdom to know the difference.

Does anyone have a topic they would like to discuss?

The topic is or I have selected a passage from the BB on pg.___.

(At this time you may either choose to share or select a member)

Doe anyone care to share?

(Chair will decide how members are selected to share if there are no volunteers, please be sure to watch the screen for ! and call on those members as time allows.)
(If people enter the room while people are sharing give them a moment to see what is going on, some will probably not be aware a meeting is in progress. Simply type Meeting in Progress.)
(As the end of the meeting approaches be sure to allow the last person sharing to finish, after the thank you may close the meeting or share if you did not do so.)

Thank you everyone for participating and to those of you who shared, are there any burning desires at this time?

(If there is a reply thank them, and close the meeting)
