I am grateful for the beautiful weather that HP has graced us with today...and that the pool in our complex opens in half an hour!!! I'm grateful for this forum and all the wonderful, funny, supportive, caring people on it, some who I knew before and some I just recently met.....and for a three day weekend. I need the break!

I am grateful to know the true meaning of happiness. For many years I sought happiness through a bottle. It was a futile attempt and it brought me much misery. Searching for happiness in a false haze of illusions is wasted time and avoiding reality. In giving up the bottle, I have finally found what I was looking for. In retrospect, I needed to search inside of myself to find the root of what was causing my unhappiness. In recognizing that, I can move forward and thrive. That indeed brings me much joy and happiness.

My son's continued sobriety. 18 months.
My husband's continued efforts to not act like an a**hole most of the time. The ability to pick strawberries yesterday and to make preserves. The birds who have made my yard their nursery and that I can watch them fledge. For the people on this forum who have held my hand here and in the past. The soldiers fighting this awful war for us. My HP. |

Oh, my, the gratitude! To be vertical! To have energy! To sit on my porch after a productive day, potato salad and antipasta and pickled eggs ready in the fridge for a feast tomorrow! To have my kids all pitch in with hubby and plant my garden (Dreams of fresh tomatoes and broccoli and squash and peppers.....and...and...!!) -- and love doing it!! To have an unidentified and absolutely gorgeous velvety blue bird at one of my feeders today!
To have the prayers of my wonderful friends when things are difficult, and to have my HP's love and comfort around me always. And, to be sober today to appreciate all of those things and so many more. Great thread. Peace & Love, Sugah |

I am grateful that I have my crappy job to come to because its a paycheck that allows me to spoil my dogs silly. I am grateful that my husband sees my body daily and still loves me for it. I am grateful that my sons seem to be doing better today than two weeks ago (long story). I am grateful that out of the blue my oldest son contacted me finally to tell me where he is and its only a state over.

Earliest moments of my day . . .
I am grateful to have waken up alive, straight & sober. Birds singing, my kitty meowing to play & my HP (God) taking care of my intrinsic needs.

I am grateful to live in this great country where we have the freedom to have websites like this. And have the freedom to spill our pains and our minds at will.
