I'm so grateful that since the surgery I have been sober and I really feel that this is going to work. I'm handling the urges that so far are not large. I've got plans for handling the urges when they do get intense. I really feel committed. Knock on wood, I feel like I've finally broken free. I'm lovin' it and my family is lovin' it. What more could I want?

I am grateful today for the new stove that I will be getting very soon.
I am also grateful just for my life. And as hard as it can be, I am grateful to understand the pain so that I can better appreciate my gifts...

I;m grateful that I didn't blow it yesterday. I deleted a key from the registry in my computer that I shouldn't have. Computer would not boot, tried 2 additional drives and reinstalling the OS. Nothing wrked. $ hours later I finally found a way to restore the last good configuration. It's working now. A short time ago that episode would have sent me straight off to the liquor store. This time I didn't even think of booze. I'm so grateful!

Isn't it funny how one less option makes life so much easier? Quite a while ago I read an article about how the proliferation of options (500 different kinds of jeans or sneakers or versions of an appliance) has been detrimental to our judgment because there are just too many choices to even begin to evaluate properly. I like the idea that my life is simpler and easier because the option of drinking isn't an option anymore. That is one evaluation I can make properly, finally.

Today I am grateful for the simplicity of my life. As difficult as it is at times, I have to stop and take in the simple gifts that I have been given. I can get focused on all of the stressful things and forget the simplicity that I DO have in many areas of my life.

I am grateful that God granted me the last 7 months to learn a new way of life through al anon meetings and friends I have met there. Also the founders of the 12 steps program, Proves that through adversity lies opportunity. Grateful for today I can have love and compassion for those suffering from the disease of addiciton. Thankful for my children and the challenges of the past has brought a new light. Thankful for a loving caring God who knows my need before I do and already has a plan. Also, thankful for the beautiful folks in sober village.

I am just grateful to have a home, where I am able to move as I feel. I am grateful to be able to love, to cook, to say good morning and feel the sun!

Just that I haven't killed myself yet by the things I've done. I stopped taking all psych/sleep/anxiety meds now for about 8 months, and this has been a good thing overall, as I would mix them with drinking, and when I look back, I'm lucky to be alive. And I'm happy not to feel I need pills of any kind, that I can live without them.
