The Endless Bottoms

Each of us has/had our own bottom. For some there are horrible "yet"/realities that had to occur for us to get to that point in seeking the courage to quit.

To me in my mind there is no "worse" bottom. Our perceptions of others "bottoms" is what seems worse. If the bottom was bad enough, we sought out sobriety. It could be a mental or emotional bottom, it could be a physical, catastrophic bottom, it could be the loss of many things bottom, it could be the loss of life bottom. Whatever the bottom though if it's bad enough or your hurting enough or sick enough, you'll surrender to the idea sobriety is your only option.

Doing it however, is the terribly difficult thing. We waver in and out of should I shouldn't I, can I, I can't, I'm not that bad, It's my vice, I'm not a bad person... and the list goes on. That to me, is part of the process of seeking the courage and willingness. Once we reach that point the next phase is the recovery process... and a process it is.

In some small sick way, I'm grateful for my bottom.
