Not very American like but WTF

I have been at Jury Duty yesterday and today, I'm home for the lunch break right
now. I sat for 8 hours yesterday and was never picked....today at 9:45 they called
me. I had told someone from the JD office that my employer didn't pay me for
these lost wages and I am a single parent. (JD pays $10 a day plus .30 per mile.)
She said to tell the judge this when I was being interviewed, I did and he said
he would take it into consideration. He did and excused me from the trial...
Fantastic I thought now I can leave, it was 11:15AM and go to work therefore,
only missing yesterdays pay. No such luck I was instructed to go back to the
waiting area for further instructions. At Noon someone came in and said
to return at 1:30PM WTF????? So I went back to the JD office and asked
what the point was in informing the judge if I still had to return...she said
you are excused from that trial buy not jury duty......In Illinois you are to
be available for a full week 5 days...life is on hold....so now I am getting
ready to go back for the next 3.5 hours to sit and wait. I have to phone in
at 4:30 to see if I am requested, no demanded to be there in the AM.
I hope someone steps in and helps to get me out of this and this afternoon
is it.....I would have no problem serving if I were being paid for it by my
employer.....oh yeah this is the 3'rd time I am serving JD in the last
5 years....I think I have been very American........
Keep your fingers crossed that I am out of there today....I need to get
back to work.....I hate using my vacation days this way.....
