Boomer if you are that afraid of Prozac and I do understand your fear, wait until Monday, and explain your fears to your psych and that you would prefer an anti D that does not mess with your head.
Personally I have no problems with Lexapro and my cousin is using the next step up one Cymbalta I think it is. Anyway there are many many Anti D's that do NOT MAKE YOU FEEL LIKE A ZOMBIE. Ask your pysch about those, as you have this fear about Prozac. Hope that helps........................... Love and hugs,

I don't know....does prozac have that effect?
I feel for you Boomer. I just stopped taking celexa. It seemed to work for a long time, where I did not notice any difference.....but then the depression will start getting worse while I am taking it, so I have noticed a big difference with stopping. I imagine I am one that will need to take something, doctors have said for the rest of my life, but I hate the thought of experimenting and trying to find the right one. Laurie is absolutely right, talk to the psych. There are a million things out there these days. love-B |

Thanks Laurie and Bruce,It seems I had tried everything but it only takes time for my psych to find the right thing for me to take, and with the Effexor it made me sick to my stomach and i can't afford to lose weigh(I'm pretty tiny 114 pounds). But thank you and I love you all.

There are a lot of new antidepressants on the market today...i know exactly what you mean about having to find the right one!....its easy for a doctor to mess about with your life this way!.....
i was on something called amytriptilin..sp...it made me into a useless wreck for a year! i cant remember the first year of my sons life!.... if you are prone to depression please please do not walk away in fear...it would be a good idea to expresss your concerns and anxieties to your doctor. A good /sympathetic doctor will listen and explain what to expect.... depression is a killer too....just be aware of that!..ive been to the depths of hell and have managed to get back on my feet and will have to take medication for the rest of my life.....im ok with that! once you have found the right doseage and a product which suits you its half the battle. good luck and well done for posting here, i hope that you feel better soon love purrdsxx |

It does take awhile to find the right one and your doctor is your best advisor. My mom took prozac and my aunt to and one friend and they all did very well on it but it's so different for everyone.

Chy's right, everybody responds to different anti D's differently. It took my doctor and I 5 years of trial and error to find the one that works for me.
If and when the Lexipro stops working (Bruce Lexipro is the next step up from celexa when the celexa stops working) my next step up will be the cymbalta. Please talk with your pysch Dr. I have seen prozac and other anti D's make some people into 'zombies' and other people no apparent difference, other than the depression lifts. Yep Purrdy, we have both been down in the bottom of that Abyss and sure don't want to go back there. Take care Boomer, Please keep us posted on how you are doing, we do care. Love and hugs,

Do you think you might be over emotional (the crying part) you mentioned due to getting off of them effexor? I', just asking because when I got off of it, it was extremely hard for me, in a lot of ways. I just recently got off of it, so I still remember it. Did you taper off of it or go c.t.? Anyway, I am on a different one as well now also, and doing much better. Hang in there, I was a mess for few months over my meds, it was a really scary time for me also, but in the end it finally worked itself out.

It will go away, just hang in there, keep talking to us, and keep posting. A few people here are the ones that got me through it, I would have literally lost my mind had it not been for them. Really I mean that, I was a mess for awhile. You'll get through this. (how many days has it been?)

I took prozac for awhile. I was still drinking during that time, so it really doesn't count. Right now, I take Cymbalta and Lexapro. Dr. said it was a different combination, but it seems to work. Actually, I'm suppose to be weaning off the Lexapro, but I'm not.
I don't feel ready yet and I think he made of spur of the moment decision, so I'm sticking with what has been working. I really feel for ya ((Boomer)) Hope you get to feeling better soon!! Hey, I almost started crying at work the other day, because this little girl that works in the kitchen was mean to me when I asked for cups!! Sheesh!!
