My Recommendations....and yours too!

'Jonathan Strange and Mr. Norrel' by Susanna Clarke is excellent!

Anything by Nobel prize winner Jose Saramago...'Blindness' and 'Baltasar and Blimunda' are two that I'd highly recommend! They're very deep and very intense.

If you want something simple and highly enjoyable, that you can also read to your children and grandchildren, I'd recommend the Redwall series by Brian Jacques.

I'd also highly recommend the 'His Dark Materials' series by Philip Pullman....this is another one you can read to children and they're absolutly suberb.

If you can find 'Kindred' and 'Wild Seed' by Octavia E. Butler, they're well worth it. She also wrote a couple of excellent sci-fi series too.

God, and how can I forget Toni Morrison....she's not for the faint of heart though. 'Beloved' about knocked me on my tuckas!
