This morning I woke up one year sober
......and I can not believe I can write these words!!!!!
I never thought it would happen to me. I am so very very full of gratitude to be where I am at.The past year has changed my life.I am learning to drive(after never having a licence or even caring too!),I have lost 24 kg and fallen in love with jogging and eating well(well most of the time!LOL!),I have a higher power who has 24 hour access to my heart and mind(when I remember!!),I am growing self-esteem and most days remembering to water and feed it,I can feel when ego and defensivness overwhelm me(it is concious work to change behaviour that has kept me alive if not miserable for 35 years!!)and sometimes I can shift it before my head starts running.I am a better mummy because I can be present in the moment(sometimes!!!!)but,always sober and not hungover in that moment.But,the biggest thing is the feeling that I am worth this.That one day at a time,and, sometimes one minute at a time,if I don't have the first drink, I can do this.And,if I don't have that first drink,a life I never imagined possible can begin to grow and become my actual life.This is the best thing I have ever done.
Thank you to everyone here who has been there.Coming here to this village and this tribe has been a constant,rewarding,growing and honest part of nearly everyday of the past year.Thank you to each and everyone of you from my heart to yours.
