Hey Applejack.... sorry I missed your post.
I haven't found any information on whether or not quitting smoking affects the levels of vitamins and minerals in your body, but I know that smoking certainly depletes vitamin C -- tons of it. It probably wouldn't hurt to add just a regular multi-vitamin and some additional vitamin C to compensate for what you might be lacking. And yes -- quitting might wreak havoc with your blood sugar for a while. A steady supply of fruit juice will fend that off; just sip it throughout the day. Detoxing lungs is also something I'm curious about as well. One thing I like to do is inhale steam -- I heat water on the stove in a big pot, place the pot on a sturdy table, put a towel over my head, and inhale it. Just use common sense if you do this, to avoid steam burns. It's great for a lot of things, and will make your lungs feel really good. And probably the best way to rid your body of toxins overall is just to drink lots of water. It will also speed the nicotine from your system. Good luck with your decision to quit!
