i've been tapering off cigarettes now for a couple of weeks... i'd gone from just about a pack a day down to no more than 5 per day... trying to save some money, you know???
this morning i smoked the last cig in my pack, and on the way to the 7-11 i decided not to buy another pack... i thought i would try to go as long as possible without one... i turned around and went home... well, that was over 12 hours ago... boy oh boy do i want to run out and buy some... but i sit here and i think, "wow, i just went 12 hours without a cigarette!!! i think i can do this!!!" i've been smoking for about 13 years... never have tried to quit before... and i don't know if my reasons for considering quitting now are valid enough for me to stick with it... (saving money???) i KNOW it's bad and i KNOW i shouldn't do it... but i guess you never really realize that you're addicted to something until you try and stop it... well, i happened upon your site tonight while researching side effects of quitting smoking, and what to expect the next few days/weeks/months/years to be like... i've found so much useful information here, but one thing i am not finding is information on supplements and vitamins... i realize that blood sugar levels drop... i've read a lot about that tonight... but what vitamins or minerals suffer??? and are there vitamins/supplements to stay away from??? (i recently heard someone mention that beta carotene was really harmful for smokers/recent smokers)... also, any recommendations (other than fluids and exercise) on detoxing lungs??? are there vitamins/supplements that aid in cell growth or cleansing??? i really hope this works out... i'm shaky right now... and i have munchies, lol... just thought i'd reach out to you guys... thanks! |
