That is awesome Kevin! Did you just quit cold turkey? Congratulations to you!
I'm doing fair and bought two packs versus a carton!! Now that is progress though I have my last order of cartons do in any day but that should be plenty to get me through to my quit date... and I couldn't find the darn filters at either Walgreens today. So I guess I'll order them online.

lol guys
Chy I used patches, but took them off at night. They helped a lot but the dreams where awful if I lfet them on at night. I also used my program doing it one day at a time, still do and I talked about everything that came up. Thats it and I counted the money too for some reason it helped, never did that with D&A. Anyway I feel better more alive fresher and generally a Saint Kevin

Well, as far as yesterday went....I'll scratch it up to "not strong enough". I bought another pack.
![]() But today, I am doing better. Have only smoked 3. I think just having the pack, knowing that they are there, makes it seem better. But that is the last one I will waste my money on. I made a list of things that I could spend my money on, fun things, instead of cigs. My kids really like my list! lol So, anyway, today seems better. Tomorrow, I go back to work. I am gonna challenge my students, (10 behavior problem boys, who all smoke) to try to stop with me. We'll have some kind of reward incentive. I can tell if they are smoking, since they all want to use the restroom, a million times a day. Some of them have been busted, in the restroom....$100.00 ticket and smoking school. I disagree with the ticket policy. It puts it off on the parents, instead of the student. The smoking school is four nights for 3 1/2 hours each.

Today has been a fair day it's harder being at home and easily accessible but still under 10! I've only smoked in my car twice in 3 days so that's still a bit of progress and for some reason I'm not enjoying the taste today or is it guilt? LOL!

Sorry if I offended any of you on my earlier post - I can't access smilies at work, so my tone may not have come across as intended. I am rooting for you all the way - whenever you're ready, you're ready. And you'll always find tons of support on here and big cheers of encouragement from me, I hope you know that.
I have to say that on Sunday/Monday, I didn't think I was ready and was doing my usual trick of saying to myself "when X is sorted, then I'll give up". Then I mentally stood beside myself wagging my finger and said "Minnie, what's stopping you doing it right now? You know that when X is sorted, Y will happen and give you another excuse to put it off. What's the worst that can happen by giving up anyway? And compare that to the worst that can happen by carrying on smoking" Anyway. it'll be a week in 23 hours. Yes, I'm still counting, but I have to really think to answer that now. Cravings are lessening all the time, my breathing is tons better, 2 people have complemented me on my perfume which I don't remember ever happening before (no-one could smell it over the fag smoke, probably), I am sleeping better, getting much more done, I've saved $70, swimming is easier and have miles more energy. Hope you'll join me very soon.

My name is Brian and I am an alcoholic and Nicotine addict. I stopped smoking 1 month 1week and 3 days ago. I tried Bupropion from Doctor but it gave me upset feelings all the time. I went to the patch. I would quit every Monday since it was easy not to smoke at work but smoked on the weekends. Finally after being sick of starting over again and again, have stopped smoking. The benifits of not smoking are fantastic for me. Breathing and walking better. Right now useing just the 2 mg lozenges. Now to get off the lozenges!!!!!!! All in all, it is worth not smoking. Glad to have found this site. See I am not alone.

Hi Brians! Welcome to SV. Sounds like you've got a handle on the smoking. I'm getting there. Keep us on track, will ya?
Minnie...no offense taken. You are my role model! lol The cravings are getting less, even though I still am smoking. It just doesn't seem like that cig is THAT important. I'm working on changing my morning routine. I've begun showering and just jumping into getting ready...hair, make-up...instead of the leisurely cig...and drink. That's my biggest challenge right now. Chy, doin good....

Velvet - that's exactly how I did it, so you're on the right lines, I think. I have changed my routine so much this week, and all for the better. I haven't even had coffee all week and most days it's got to the evening before I think "oh, I didn't get a coffee"!
And on the first couple of days, I used the "not right now" phrase over and over in my mind when I thought of cigs. Using my procrastination tendencies to my advantage for a change! And hi there, Brians - congrats on the cig-free time. You're doing great. Doesn't it feel good to no longer be a slave to the little white sticks?

A slave to the little white sticks, as Minnie puts it, is perfect. I am a slave to them. They take my money. I hurry to get things done, to be able to smoke. They come first...but not for long....and THEY STINK!!!

Thank you Chy; Velvet abd Minnie for the welcome. Just back from AA meeting. Fewer members are smoking now. The fear of quiting is worse than quiting but it is never easy. How hard core drug addicts do it is hard for me to understand. Oxy and cocaine etc must be a nightmare. Breathing and walking is so worth it. Hang in there all.

Good Morning All.
Off to the Dr. today for blood test. First time to Dr. being a non-smoker. Another day, I hope, smoke free, smell free, walking free and breathing free. |

Wow....
....I'm so happy to see how much support there is on this thread! I'm really glad.
I've been a bit cranky lately, and I'm not much good to anyone when I'm like that. Hopefully I'm coming out of my shell a bit, and can contribute some positive stuff once in a while. Don't ask why I feel responsible.... I don't know! I guess it's all about helping others if I have the means.... call it the "rescuer" in me. Oh, that's another forum, isn't it? Lol. Congrats to everyone on their smober time! It's awesome. Cigarettes are soooo bad. When I'm around D2 while he's smoking, I often wonder how I ever tolerated putting all those chemicals in my body. A lot of people told me I was the type who would never quit, too. I know a lot of you have probably heard it from others: "If I can do it, you can too!" That is so true. I wish I could come up with a more effective or original way of getting across how true that is. If anyone needs some tips, links, etc., see my quitting thread. Actually I'll come back and post some stuff. Velvet, I really admire your tenacity. Don't give up. You seem really positive, and I'm so glad for all the support you have here. Chy, I'm just plain dagnab proud of you! You're getting there! You're really facing this thing and sticking with it. Sometimes (like I said a million times already, lol) it takes a little extra effort to get there. You're doing just that. I spent a few days of really intense reading about cigarettes and quitting before I was ready to quit. I had about 4 days off work to do it, but you can build your resolve over time. Minnie, you sound like you're doing great! The worst is over, and it just gets better. I'm really happy for you. I'm glad you're here as an inspiration too, to show that this thing is possible! BRIANS, welcome to the Village, and congrats on your smober time too! Hope I didn't miss anyone.... gee, guess I did! There are a lot of people on this thread. Heidi? How's Miss Heidi doing these days? Hugs to Purrdy. You can do this thing sis. Lots of support here! Congrats on 15 months Nogard! I remember when you quit, and followed your posts over at SR. Good job! |
