Post Home Again

As Paul McCartney sang, once there was a way, to get back home again. Thomas Wolfe---he who decreed "you can't go home again" All the while growing up, I had dreams of leaving my home town and never looking back. 30 some years later, I've not ventured to far from where I grew up. Seems like, everyone always left my home town and never looked back.

I often think back of my childhood of the happy times as well as sad. Growing up, most of us don't have a lot of concept if, we're poor, rich, advantaged or disadvantaged. You grow up in a real small town like I did, you had to be friends with everyone to get a game of baseball etc going.

I always wondered what I'd become when, I grew up, as a matter of fact, I still wonder. I often am glad, God doesn't allow us to see the future. Glad we only have this moment we live in. Would anyone want to know when, a death or any other trouble was going to affect them or their family?

I suppose, God gives us just enough mixture of both. We get enough sorrow to make us strong and enough happiness to forget our occasional troubles. I've had the joy of being married and the pain of divorce. The joy of having children and the joy of holding my grandchildren.
The sorrow of losing loved ones

I've learned that, happiness isn't wanting what you haven't got but, enjoying what you have. I've wished for new shoes and saw someone couldn't walk. We learn to play the hand we're dealt in life. We learn that, we should pray to God for our needs and not our wants.

Driving through my old home town tonite and I reflected back to a simpler life. I went past the old park I played as a child and if, only for a moment, I did go home again
