IMO, beginners need to build the habit of sobriety or abstinence. A habit is something you make by doing the same thing over and over (like drinking). By having a plan when you are new, you are laying the foundation for building that habit of sobriety. It takes a while but one day you will suddenly realize you "own" your sobriety. It's a great thrilling feeling. I hope everyone gets it.
