Yeah, they are always screaming "The sky is falling" here on the west coast of BC, too, but most of us don't do much about it.

The hurricane-like wind storm we had in 2006, totally unprecedented, taught me the one thing they tell us that is only too true: when disaster hits big time, you are on your own, and interdependent with your close neighbours.

I'm actually glad they talk about it here, I'm pretty good about earthquake proofing our house, I have to make sure my animals are okay if I'm not around.

After being in the big San Fran one, and losing a couple of friends in it, and remembering the bricks crumbling from the buildings, etc. it still scares me at times.... I do think that CA is going to have a pretty big one soon, just my feeling, I doubt it's going to eat LA though, lol......

I feel horrible for what the people in Haiti are going through, I can't even imagine.
