gas furnace vs heat pump?

Well, I'm afraid the time has arrived for me to put my ?20 year old? furnace and AC out of their misery and bite the bullet purchasing a new system. CO poisoning is not an easy matter to ignore, LOL! *SIGH*

Sooooo, I have to decide on whether I just want to replace my beloved gas furnace with another, or go the route of the heat pump, which has been recommended by two friends who seem to know what they are talking about.

I was wondering if there are any Villagers out there who may have suggestion about which route to go, and/or ways to make the decision? Anyone know of somewhere where I can rent a husband until I get this decision made and paid for???
