Yay - it's me!!!
And you know what? I have to say that it has been so much easier than I have feared for the past 10 years (or more). Yes, I know it's simple for me to say that now, but be assured that I certainly wasn't saying that on 31 December! My biggest challenges have been when I badly wanted to take a "time out" from life for 5 minutes - a fag was the simplest way of doing that. Also, I can see now that the concept of the nicotine hit creating the withdrawal which creates the craving which is satisfied by the nicotine hit and so on........ The days after I have been in a smoky bar are the most twitchy for me and I have had to be a tad more alert to the stresses. And even more aware that giving into the craving would set up a cycle I've worked hard to break. My big motivators have been vanity and stubborness. And I do believe that some of the smaller wrinkles are fading - although that could be wishful thinking. And perhaps men can actually see me now that I am not wreathed in smoke, so I might have half a chance at a bit of action sometime soon. The benefits have been enormous and I really can't see what the appeal was anymore. By jove, I think she's cracked it!!!
